My experience at the event:
After some races in winter, it was time to kick off an exciting few months ahead (soon football season will be over so I can focus on running, cycling and triathlons and taking a break from the pain). With Kirsten and Andy we decided to run in a beautiful early morning the
Bryton Miners Revenge in Leeuwenkloof. There were 2 courses, one short (taken by Kirsten) and one longer (15km) which Andy and I did almost togethere.
We arrived at the starting race quite late, when the race was already started, and so we played catch up for the first 10km, passing quite a lot of people (
http://www.livetime.co.za/ provided even a live feed as soon as the contestants were passing the line). The course was very nice and not too extreme, with only a massive hill/climb around the 10th km, the only place were I was forced to walk.
I left Andy behind only in the last 3 kms, when he got stuck in a single line of zombies (the sun was creating issues to the sensitive runners) and I ended up running at crazy speeds in the last few kms. Andy arrived maybe 3 minutes behind me.
It was a nice race to celebrate the arrival of spring. More races to come!
